Das Kind

Director Yonathan Levy
Genre Documentary
Length 93 min
Year 2013

95-year old Irma Miko was born in Romania in 1914. A Jewish Communist and political activist from age 17, Irma joined the French Resistance in Paris in 1941. Her unimaginably dangerous assignment was to bring occupying German soldiers into the Resistance... Winner of the Best Film at the European Independent Film Festival in Paris, Das Kind (The Child) combines significant places, meetings and personal reunions to offer us a spontaneous, poetic and deeply moving account of what has been the incredible destiny of Irma Miko, a Jew, communist and Resistance fighter, whose life spanned the darkest moments of our history, but who remains above all a mother who speaks to us all.
